CURRENT ACTIVITIES OF THE SCHOOL
EXTRA CURRIUCLAR AND CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
St. Dominic Savio
has always encouraged a number of co-curricular activities which
are meant to enable the students to acquire interest in many
fields and thus lead to a harmonious development of physical,
moral and aesthetic life.

The
purpose of these activities is to be provide opportunities to
the pupils to acquire the art of public speaking, to develop taste
for and appreciation of Standard English Literature and to impart
general information and news of the world enabling students to
be in close touch with current, also by the study of great personalities,
past and present, to engender in pupils noble ideals in life.
SAVIO SCIENCE CLUB ACTIVITIES
Main Objectives:
To enable the students to take part in Quiz Programmes Science
Exhibition and various competitions organised in Ward levels and
in Regional Level and to train them to appear for science Talent
Examinations.
The Club organises field trips to Nehru Planetarium for Space
Shows and Nehru Science Centre for acquiring knowledge through
intel Cyberskool - Multimedia package.
The Club undertakes projects like Microbial Technology (Converts
Garbage into Gold) and Vermiculture for manure production. This
manure is used in Terrace Garden.
"BAYS NETWORK" It is the national network of "Science
and Technology club organised by BCC, University College, London.
Science Museum, London, Geologist's Association London. Our Savio
Science Club is a member of this Youth Section of the British
Association for the advancement of Science. The club receives
up-to-date information about all the activities to promote Science
and Technology which are organised by the British Association
regionally and nationally. Members work on projects and investigator
Award. "THE BAYS NETWORK is for Tomorrow's Scientist Today"
- It will open the door to science for children and adults alike.
MUSIC AND DRAMATICS
Activities
The aim is to discover and develop
dramatic talents among the pupils and foster a taste for desirable
music. They also help in imparting skills in playing musical instruments
both for the Brass and the School Orchestra.
EXCURSION AND FIELD TRIPS
These serve the purpose of providing opportunities
to enable pupils to acquire direct knowledge by undertaking excursions,
to chosen places. By means of such excursions it is calculated
that not only will there be a greater dissemination of general
information but also pupils shall be put in a frame of mind akin
to that of the research scholars.
SPORTS ACTIVITIES
The object of this section is
not only to develop a sound healthy body but to exact poise and
grace in movements, and to enable body but to receive proper training
and useful instruction in athletics and games in order that they
be better fitted to perform creditably in the inter class and
inter school competitions. Its ultimate aim is to foster a true
spirit of sportsmanship. The school provides facilities for Football,
Hockey, Basketball, Volley Ball, Cricket, Table Tennis Lawn-Tennis
& Athletics.
SCHOOL SCOUT ACTIVITIES
Our Scout Troupe registered
Unit: AD S. 372 of the North Bombay suburban Bharat Scout and
Guide District Association is open to students from Std. VII to
X and us part of the School activities. Weekly meetings camps
and hikes are part of the training and therefore Scholarships
and Drawing Examinations compulsory.
Selected students are prepared each
year for the Middle and High School Scholarship Examination conducted
by the Government Of Maharashtra, and also the Elementary and
Intermediate Drawing Examinations of the Government of Maharashtra.
