Primary Section
At the beginning of the academic year 14th June, 10 we welcomed our little ones to the primary section. After a long vacation of almost 2 months, the happy little savions looked all eager to be back to school with twinkling eyes greeting one another all excited to be back with us.

An inaugural assembly was held on 16th June, where the children organized by two of their teachers prayerfully invoked God’s blessings and appreciating his gift of creation bestowed on us through poem, song and a teachers’ prayer.
 

The Principal Rev Fr. Crispino D’souza welcomed to staff and students. The Rector Rev. Fr. Godfrey D’Souza introduced the new administrator Rev Fr. Edwin Colaco.

   

We at Dominic Savio believe learning is not at all academics. All the activities are pre-planned and listed in the handbook.

The second week saw the inculcation of democratic values. The students of Std IV who stood for elections campaigned and were accordingly elected .

School Captain Master Glen Lewis, School Vice Captain Master Harsh Aharwal. The house prefects and Vice prefects too were elected.

The P.T.A general body meeting was held at 9.00 am followed by parents electing a class representative in their children’s respective classes.
There’s never a dull moment in this institution.

6th July, 10 feast of Dominic Savio was celebrated with a beautiful mass and prayer service attended by all staff members and the secondary section boys. The Primary students were given an holiday. Party time and lunch for the teachers.

As 5th July saw All Indian Bandh the interclass Savio Quiz competition for Std III / IV was postponed for 9th July. The children were given hands on experience in taking the mike and answering the quizmaster Bro Brendon, a healthy and entertaining competition.

10th July, House Inauguration: The children were divided into the four houses. RED, YELLOW, BLUEand GREEN. The school captains, the house prefects, vice-prefects and monitors of all classes took the oath and received their saches and ties. Fr Principal declared the house system open. Later in the day STD II, III, & IV participated in handwriting competition. Every class and division saw 3,4 students receiving certificates for the best handwriting.

12th July: A meeting was held with the parents of children who were identified and tested for difficulties in learning, so a remedial program can be carried out by Prafulta in the initial stages before it is too late.

19th –24th July: Ist Unit Test held followed by the regular classes.

27th & 28th: Orientation for teachers of all sections for half an hour. Fr Godfrey D’Souza showed snippets on creativity as teachers with unforgettable learning experiences.

30th July: STD III/IV exhibited their project in their classrooms.

31st July: Open Day. 8.00 am to 9am. A quick meeting of parents and teachers followed by regular class for students.

This year will reflect on Eco Spirituality and Care for creation. (Themes for all activities.)

4th August. Red house Day: The house teachers prepared the boys of their houses for an assembly giving very many students an opportunity to participate bringing to mind their patron Lokmanya Tilak and his values for “Social Awareness” through prayer, song, dance and skit.

7th August Cultural Day STD IV: Active participation and involvement is a key to learning. A lot of preparation by the teachers and students has gone into this activity. Every child was given an opportunity to go on stage and perform before an audience (their parents). Teamwork, confidence building and talent display was evident in the learning process.

 
   
   
 

A sport is given priority. Sports culture is introduced as the saying goes “A healthy mind in a healthy body”.
The primary section this year has included sports in the class timetable from 12.30pm to 2.00pm. Std IV on Mondays and Thursdays.
Std III Tuesday and Friday.
Std II Wednesday and Saturday, Where the children are taught basics like sports gymnastics/athletics for 45 minutes. After a break skill tranning is given in 4 sports house wise. Children will come in thei
